Book Worm

"Okay Mom, today we're reading about a sheep"

"Are you paying attention?!"

Aiden loves books, he's got several bookshelves worth of board books, foam books and even some mutilated paper books. For a while now he's been enjoying climbing into our lap for a story, which is a relief because it took him a while to have any interest in sitting still long enough to hear one. Lately, he's been taking them out of our hands and reading to us (by reading I mean long winded babbling with an occasional serious glance in our direction to make sure we're paying attention. He also likes to show us the pictures).

His interest in books is so satisfying because Sean and I are huge nerds, and we both have a passion for books. Case in point: before Aiden was born Sean kept having boxes and boxes of books sent to the house, filled with shrink wrapped collector's editions of every classic novel you can imagine, for when Aiden was old enough to read them. That, and we came across a Walter Cronkite history of the Nuremburg Trials last night on PBS and cursed our luck that it wasn't on a Friday night because we had to go to bed and couldn't watch all of it. So basically, Aiden has no hope because nerdy tendencies run on both sides of the family.
